Salomon lbn Gabirol (Avicebron) is a jewish medieval thinker know by Christians for his philosophical work The origins of life
(Fons vitae), and by the Jewish community for,his large poetic work, which was incorporated to the religious liturgy. Less known is his work on ethics, constituted by two books which are very different in content, but which follows the sarne originality and
universality present in ail the work of A vicebron. The work Kitâb islâh al-akhlâq, translated to hebraicas Tikkun midot ha-nefesh, contains an original proposal for the ethics of religious inspiration of his time, founded on the ethical application of scientific
know/edge inspired on the theory of humours. This papper tries to present in a short form the 20 characteristics atributed by him to animal soul.
