Abstract

Left ventricular aneurysm can be a serious complication of transmural myocardial infarction, significantly increasing the morbidity and mortality of affected patients. The clinical diagnostic hypothesis of this complication is confirmed by complementary imaging tests, such as chest radiography, ventriculography and two-dimensional echocardiography. We report four cases, in which the correlation between the results of complementary exams and the anatomopathological findings obtained through necropsy of the patients is demonstrated. We found that in our cases the correlation was concordant and that necropsy continues to be a good method for assessing physical and complementary propaedeutics, in addition to being a continuous source of learning and research in Medicine.
