Surgical therapeutic evaluation ofspontaneous pneumothorax

Twelve patients with spontaneous pneumothorax had been studied by the authors where they had performed thoracotomy with parietal pleurectomy. The surgical procedure was performed in 7 patients by relapse pneumothorax (58,3%), by persistent pleum! leak in 3 patients (25%), and by apical bleb in 2 ( 16,6%). In 9 (75%) was another technical procedure was made during the surgery, based on intraopemtory
fmdings. The authors showed that the rate of complications was little and with low morbidity, present in 2 (16,6%) patients. To sum up, the parietal pleurectomy is adequated ever since used in selected patients.
