Abstract

Skin graft is one of the most common techniques used in reconstructive surgery.
This technique is used for covering defects on the skin resulting from an ample variety of causes. Many methods to improve the viability of these transplants can
be used. Physical agents can be important resources in the process of skin graft
integration. The objective of this study was to review these physical agents. The
literature was sought in the databases Pubmed, Lilacs and Scielo, using articles
published between 1970 and 2009. The use of physical agents is still uncommon,
but they are important in the integration, function and appearance of skin grafts.
All reviewed articles reported satisfactory results in the use of different physical
agents to improve the viability of skin grafts.
