This research investigates the personal traits of ostracizers and victims of ostracism, examining their roles in predicting behavioral patterns. Involving 494 students, with 260 displaying high ostracizing behavior and 234 frequently experiencing ostracism, the study reveals predictors of intense ostracizing behavior, including a penchant for leadership, disregard for group norms, deliberate defiance, and inappropriate social responses. Victims' typical behaviors, such as negative self-view and avoidance of personal disclosure, are also predicted by their behavioral intensity and preference for immediate gratification. Gender and social status differences among ostracizers and victims were noted. These findings offer insights for designing ostracism prevention programs by identifying associated personal traits and experiences, aiding in understanding, and addressing this social phenomenon effectively.
