Abstract

Examines 209 references concerning investigations about reading of atypical learners categorized into the following areas: Visually Impaired; Hearing Impaired; Mentally Retarded; Neurologically Impaired/Brain Damaged and Other Atypical Learners. The scientific production in Neurologicaly Impaired area is significantly greater than the others but it is less sofisticated in methodology. The studies of Mentally Retarded were specially refined in scientific methodology. There were significant correlation between age of the subjects of studies with Mentaly Retarded and Hearing Impaired, both take children as subjects most frequently. No significant correlations were noted in the comparactions about methodologicaJ development.
