ATITUDES EM RELAÇÃO À VELHICE: Uma Revisão da Literatura

Resumo

Este artigo analisa instrumentos, dados e interpretações veiculados por uma amostra de pesquisa (1945-1987) sobre relações entre atitudes em relação à velhice e variáveis psicossociais (como idade, sexo, escolaridade e profissão). Apresenta uma análise conceitual e metodológica, concluindo que não existe evidência suficiente para se afirmar que predominam atitudes negativas em indivíduos ou pequenos grupos. Os instrumentos não são adequadamente discriminativos e os níveis de análise não são definidos com clareza. Trata-se de uma área de pesquisa ateórica, talvez afetada pelos mesmos preconceitos apontados pela Gerontologia.
