Some of the most emblematic works and projects of Fábio Moura Penteado were devised for the city of Campinas, reflecting the intense vital relationship of the architect with
his birthplace. In the provincial town which, particularly since the second part of 20th
century, quickly turned into a metropolis, his projects reflect a significant effort in the
exercise of thinking and preparing Campinas for the new urban and human dimension
that it has acquired. We present projects and works of the architect Fábio Moura
Penteado in Campinas, the city where he was born and developed a significant part of
his work, emphasizing on the three most emblematic of his works, the Opera House, the Cultural Center and the residence for seniors named The Elderly Park, all constructed.
between 1966 and 1968. In addition to presenting the extensive work of the architect in the city, we also briefly discuss the structural thinking of his work and its relevance to the
national architectural scene. Moreover, the analysis seeks to recover his vital relationship
with the city of Campinas where his family, cultural and economic roots reside.
