The reliability of two citation checking techique measurement instruments

The importance oi applying reliable measurement instruments when assessing the value of a library collection is discussed in this study. The Test-retest reliability test is used to determine the reliability of two different citation-checking technique measurement instruments -namely, citations derived from periodicals and citations derived from monographs. A chi-square test for equaliy of proportions demonstrated that periodicals can be reliable instruments while questions are raised regarding the reliability of monographs.
