Abstract

This study presents the contributions that have helped define information science, with emphasis on the twentieth century, so that, from a time perspective, we can check which guidelines of the area in the past were crucial to its understanding today. The periods are divided into: the 1890, as of 1900, after World War II and the golden years. The origin of the term as well as various terminologies adopted in this period are covered. Throughout the
exhibition the interdisciplinary nature of this science is demonstrated.
