In this text I intend to reflect on the confluence, analogy and even synonym of the expressions Brazilian popular Catholicism and Brazilian popular religiosity, based on a field experience and systematic research by other authors who have dedicated themselves to the themes, showing that associating the two expressions and making them one is not a prejudice and much less an apology for Catholicism. I also present a reflection on the particularities of the formation of this religiosity in Brazil and its celebrations in popular festivals which further justify the concept that the two expressions are synonymous.
